Senario: You have a webhosting account and able to create sub-accounts for example thru WHM. Due to unsupported TLDs from your current webhosting, you have purchased from another registrar addtional domains similar to the main domain being used by your main website for the purpose of redirecting these to your webhosting and websites hosted in the latter.

Now, you are wondering how to use these domains to point to another website/s or microsite/s from another location / server / webhosting.

STEPS:

  1. Register your domain name from another registrar
  2. Get the nameservers and IP address/s of your (separate) webhosting account, then enter these to the DNS settings of the domain registrar (the other account). Example:

    Nameserver 1:
    ns1.ibuild.ph
    198.xxx.xxx.x

    Nameserver 2:
    ns2.ibuild.ph
    198.xxx.xxx.x

  3. If using WHM for your webhosting account, do an add another account  »Account Functions »Create a New Account
  4. Under the DNS Settings > Uncheck "Use the nameservers specified at the Domain’s Registrar. (Ignore locally specified nameservers.)", this way it will fetch the custom nameservers set in your domain registrar and not from your webhosting account
WHM, creating a New Account and setting custom DNS settings from another registrar
  5. Then test it any html or test txt file is being read when accessing the domain name with the test html or txt file (yourdomain.com/test.html)
  6. If not, getting a page not found, flush your DNS from your local computer to ensure your access to this/these domains are fresh and updated. If using Windows OS, noramlly run CMD command and type-in command ipconfig /flushdns. See more how to clear DNS if using Windows - https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+flush+dns&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
  7. Retry accessing domain
  8. Once verified domain is now pointing to your sub-website / sub-webhosting account, proceed with uploading your webpages.
